We would like to share with you some interesting report that was published by well-trusted eMarketer. This report will help you make a decision in favor of starting making money on Instagram.

An article below presents some numerical insights of what to expect in the nearest future.

General Trends

U.S. and UK citizens use Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat more or less in the same degree of intensity. However, eMarketer predicts that in the coming years, there will be a tremendous uprise in the numbers of Instagram and Snapchat users. The report also states that Facebook, the social media with the largest users now, will notice some slow growth for both countries. This is as a result of less usage of Facebook among teenagers and young adults.

The monthly Facebook users in the U.S. will grow by 2.4% this year making it approximately 172.9 million people. Teens from 12 to 17 and young adults from 18 to 24 will leave Facebook to social media like Instagram and Snapchat.

Facebook Slows Down

As earlier predicted, the Facebook user progression will slow down. The platform will notice a drop in its monthly users, mostly aged 12 to 17. This group will fall to 14.5 million people.

“Facebook is fortunate that it owns Instagram, which remains a stable platform for teens,” said eMarketer principal analyst, Debra Aho Williamson. “Although usage of the main Facebook app is declining among teens, marketers will still be able to reach them on Instagram.”

Instagram Rocks!

Instagram will record heavy usage, as its U.S. users will grow by 23.8%, which is up to 85.5 million. Instagram will extend its user base among people under 12 years and 12 to 17 years, which is 19.0% and 8.8% increment respectively.

The eMarketer forecasts that ¼ of the UK’s population will make use of Instagram on a monthly basis. 16.7 million persons in the UK will be on the platform each month, meaning an increase of 34.8% over 2016.

Snapchat’s Doing A Good Job

eMarketer also predicts that there will be an increase in usage of Snapchat in users judging from the company’s data. The user growth in the U.S. is expected to hit 79.2 million users monthly. That is 25.8% increment from the current number. Young adults aged 18 to 24 will escalate to 19.2% in 2017.

Similarly to Instagram, Snapchat has an upsurge in its users and the monthly growth is expected to hit 20.2% of UK’s population (~14 million).

Snapchat vs Instagram

Although Instagram has more users than Snapchat – mostly people between the ages 12 to 17 and 18 to 24, eMarketer has made the predictions clear that Snapchat will beat both – Instagram and Facebook for users between these age categories. And this will happen later this year.

“We see teens and tweens migrating to Snapchat and Instagram. Both platforms have found success with this demographic since they are more aligned with how they communicate — that is, using visual content. Outside of those who have already left, teens and tweens remaining on Facebook seem to be less engaged — logging in less frequently and spending less time on the platform,” said eMarketer senior forecasting analyst, Oscar Orozco.

However, eMarketer sees bigger potential in Instagram. With the Snapchat features such as the face filters, Instagram has the possibility of taking over in the future. And this particular feature will contribute to having more young users on the platform.

Twitter Is Still In The Game

Another social network taking over in the UK is Twitter with a total of 12.6 million users this year which is 19.0% of the country’s population. Twitter is expected to beat Facebook by the number of users by 2021. In other words, it is anticipated that 13.2 million people will “twitt” in the next 4 years. Just for a fact, it makes up to 19.2 % of the UK population.

Last But Not The Least

There are over 32.5 million monthly users on Facebook and they make it the most popular social media network in the UK. However, Instagram and Snapchat have what it takes to take over with a greater population of young users.

Finally, one can conclude that the report above clearly demonstrates that Instagram and Snapchat offers a bright future for the influencers in marketing, bloggers, business owners, and marketers. Either you’re working for B2C or B2B business, you need to find influencers anyway. And in case you’re a novice Twitter blogger or an Instagram influencer keep doing what you’re doing, as you’re on a right way.
